millie wasn't ever very comfortable when she was the university. she didn't go there very often since she'd dropped out, unless she was looking for zane. after stopping by his house, she'd not found him. millie's lack of appreciation for technology meant that her phone was dead, again, so she was now scouring the town for her best friend. when he wasn't in their usual haunts, she'd had to accept that he must have been at university still. millie tended to avoid it at all costs, since it reminded her even more of the endless lack of purpose she had in her life. stood at the gates, she looked up at the buildings and briefly wallowed in self pity at her self assigned fate as a career less bookworm who should have amounted to better than a library assistant.
even though millie knew where in the university zane would be, she wasn't about to go looking. instead, she chose a seat under a tree and sat down, taking her latest novel out of her bag. as she settled into reading it, she drifted easily into a fantasy land where a group of men were guiding a dragon back to its homeland. she no longer felt the strong longing for company that she'd had only minutes ago, as the fantasy world dispelled her need for society. she would've always appreciated zane's conversation, of course, but he was now at the back of her mind. she was so deeply immersed in her book that she didn't notice the people leaving the lecture hall nearby, or one of them heading towards her.
